    The untimely passing of Fr. Antonios Papathanasiou is being mourned worldwide by everyone whose lives he touched in his 47 years. Fr. Antonios fell asleep in the Lord in Athens on March 29, 2022, following heart complications.  Although he was descended from a long line of priests stretching back to 1750 and his father, Fr. Athanasios of blessed memory, was his beloved role model, Fr. Antonios’ path to the priesthood was a long yet enriching one.   • MALIOTIS CULTURAL CENTER OPENS MAJOR NEW EXHIBIT

    On March 10, 2022, the Maliotis Cultural Center of Hellenic College Holy Cross hosted the inaugural event of its next exhibit: “The Good Shepherds: Chief Metropolitans and Rabbis in the Face of Holocaust." According to the Jewish Museum of Greece, “the exhibit's purpose is to showcase the positive actions, rescue attempts, gestures of sympathy or support, no matter how large or small, revealed by the Jewish Museum of Greece research, in order to honor those involved and inspire us today.   • HCHC RECEIVES $2.75 MILLION BEQUEST FROM THEOFILIS ESTATE

    Hellenic College Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology has received a $2.75 million bequest from the estate and trust of Helen B. Theofilis of Clearwater, Florida. The bequest is the largest ever received by HCHC. The Basil and Helen Theofilis Charitable Fund for Hellenic Causes requests that $1 million of the Fund be used to permanently endow room and board scholarships for married seminarians at Holy Cross, and $1 million to permanently endow tuition and book scholarships for non-seminarian Hellenic College students.   • FR. PENTIUC FIRST ORTHODOX MEMBER OF B.E.S.T. EDITORIAL BOARD

    On February 25, 2022, the Editorial Board of the B.E.S.T (La Bible en ses traditions / The Bible in Its Traditions) Bible Research Program at École Biblique et Archéologique Française (EBAF) in Jerusalem voted unanimously to appoint Fr. Eugen J. Pentiuc, PhD, as a member. He is the only Orthodox scholar ever to serve on the prestigious editorial board, which consists of Dominican professors at EBAF. Fr.
